Milnerton Players is bringing the pantomime back for the holiday season!

This pre-Christmas entertainment for the whole family with colourful costumes and sets, has all the familiar traditional characters one expects to find in a story of Aladdin and his beautiful princess, the pantomime Dame (played as usual by a man), the Genie of the Lamp and the Slave of the Ring and of course the customary villian of the piece, plus various colourful Chinese and not-so Chinese characters, genuine belly dancers and chorus who make up the total cast of twenty-one.

All the comedy songs in the show are set to music from well-known operettas by Gilbert & Sullivan.

The audience will meet the flamboyant and mysterious Aladdin (Dudonne Diergaardt) who is looking for his Princess Bud (Luella Holland) while the Slave of the Ring (Fiona Tanner) and the Genie of tyhe Lamp (Braam Zeilinga) battles it out with their respective magic powers.

There are characters like Aladdin's colourful and larger than life mother Mrs Twankey (Jeremy Quickfall), the "Dame" in the show, the baddy Mustapha (Rudolf Mar�), young lovers Yasmin (Nicole Nefdt) and Abdul (Gilad Yechiel), the Sultan (Gordon Molloy), the Grand Vizier (Selwyn Epstein), with Emanuel Fereira and Lauren Haupt who respectively portray Flip and Flop, the two handy assistants. Nine year old Shaun Nefdt is seen as the Sultan's attendant.

And of course a Ladies Chorus (Jeannette Kent, Vicky Weinberg, Roberta Kirkwood, Phyllis Green, Joyce Looker and Michelle Mart, with real Middle Eastern Belly Dancers Michelle Mart, Athena Demosthenous, Kathy Griffiths, Debbie de Jager, Joanne Finlay and Ren� Botha.

Direction is by Sheila McCormick with musical direction by well-known Cape Town musician and jazzplayer Keith Benjamin.
