The 26th Annual Toy Run

CAPE TOWN
SUNDAY 30th November 2008
UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE IMOC CAPE TOWN
CHARITY TOY RUN TRUST

NOTE: We have an additional Start venue at Ratanga Junction parking area.

PLEASE NOTE: All normal road rules apply. NO unlicenced riders or vehicles are permitted on the ride (therefore NO children who are not licenced to ride!) Also - the trademark Toy Run may not be used by anyone else whatsoever without the written permission of the Toy Run®.

Launched in 1982 simultaneously in Cape Town and Johannesburg by the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (IMOC), the Toy Run® is now an international event held throughout the world and is the largest motorcycling-related charity event in South Africa. A Toy Run® is held in over a dozen centres in South Africa, hosted by local motorcycle clubs and other organisations with the invaluable assistance of the commercial sector. 2007 saw the Cape Town event grow yet again with more than 24000 toys being collected by Cape Town alone, and distributed to over 122 organisations throughout the Cape and South Africa.
The IMOC Cape Town Toy Run® Trust Committee is assisted in the organisation by the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club of Cape Town

This year is the 26th Annual Toy® Run and we look forward to again building on the foundation of support and goodwill that makes this event so special.

Once again we invite all motorcyclists from the Cape Peninsula and surrounding towns to join their fellow riders on Sunday 30th November 2008, in a mass ride, the object being for each participant to donate a toy to make Christmas a little brighter for the underprivileged children of all races in orphanages, homes and hospitals in our communities. Make sure you are free to join the Annual Charity Toy Run® on Sunday 30th November 2008 at 10h00.

This year we again have the ADDITIONAL start venue from Ratanga Junction parking area. The route ~ Exit Ratanga Junction parking area left into Sable Rd onto bridge. Right onto N1 at intersection. Exit left at Muizenberg exit onto M5. Along M5 left onto Settlers Way to join with other group. Up Settlers' Way and left onto Union Avenue (M3) at Mostert's Mill. Along Union Avenue to Paradise Road and left onto Newlands Avenue. Exit Protea Road Circle onto Newlands Avenue. Up Newlands Avenue and left onto Tennant Road. Along Tennant Road and turn right into Brodie Road. Down Brodie Road to Maynardville

From the original start venue at Ottery Hypermarket parking area, the route is along Ottery Road, Kromboom Parkway, Settlers Way, Union Avenue, Newlands Road and via Tennant Road to Maynardville. Alternatively, spectators could take a position on any of the many good vantage points along the route, to truly appreciate the sight of the procession of thousands of motorcycles with common purpose.

The Toy Run® is open to any motorcyclist on any motorcycle providing that he or she donates at least ONE TOY each, which are collected at the Maynardville site at the conclusion of the ride. Access will not be granted to Maynardville without a toy. These toys will be distributed to children's hospitals and various agencies addressing the needs of organisations, with limited access to more formal funding for items such as toys.

NOTE: Please be aware that no private person has been given permission by the Toy Run® to collect toys or funds in the name of the Toy Run or on its behalf. Anyone wishing to donate toys without actually attending the Toy Run® must contact the Organisers directly to arrange for collection.
