Ocean Race - Cape Town Accommodation

The Volvo Ocean Race is ranked internationally, alongside Formula One,
America's Cup and Commonwealth Games. It covers 31,000 miles which include 10
ports, starting in Spain and ending in St Petersburg. The Volvo Ocean Race
starts in October 2008 and ends in May 2009.
South Africa was very excited to hear that Cape Town will be hosting a stop
over. It is the ninth time that Cape Town is involved. A formal announcement in
this regard will support this.
Accordingly Cape Town will be requiring 30,000 bed nights accommodation.
This Cape Town accommodation is expected to contribute to an additional R350m
in economic value from international visitors. The city is adequately equipped
to offer suitable accommodation, car hire, tours and other related tourism
facilities to ensure that visitors are offered the best of South Africa.
Selecting preferred accommodation in Cape Town and ensuring that sufficient
availability is not an issue. It has adequately prepared itself for
international tourism. Such a beautiful city is well aware that it attracts
visitors both locally and internationally, so ample choices are available to
suit individual needs.
The Volvo Ocean Race is expected to generate interest from over 500 million
viewers in 192 countries. Routes to be covered include India, Singapore, China,
Ireland and Russia. It willl stop at 10 international ports.
The Volvo Ocean Race is the world championship of ocean racing.
Cape Town is ready for this offering and also to show case that South Africa
will be ready in all aspects for 2010. Facilities are advanced and waiting in
anticipation.
