Stay calm and reassure the casualty
Get him or her to lie down
If the snake is known to be poisonous seek immediate medical attention
Do not attempt to suck out the venom
Move the affected part as little as possible as each movement increases the venom circulation

If the bite is on a limb, splint (bind the injured limb to rigid material) to immobilize completely
Call the local Poison Information Centre or phone 10111
Be prepared to do Artificial respiration if necessary
Transport the victim to the nearest medial aid center, moving the bitten part as little as possible
If possible, bring the snake with you. Ensure that the snake is dead as they often feign death.
