lighting manufacturers in the world and has 48 factories in 17 countries. OSRAM
headquarters are based in Munich and more than 41,000 people are employed by
OSRAM throughout the world.
The OSRAM brand name was registered way
back in 1906 and is one of the oldest trade names still recognized throughout
the world.
OSRAM’s history in South Africa dates
back to 1971 when the company opened a sales office in Johannesburg. In July
1997, OSRAM moved to Midrand. One of the first priorities was to build a state
of the art Light Studio with functional displays of innovative lamp technology.
Today the company has an office in Cape Town and agencies in Bloemfontein, Port
Elizabeth and Durban.
OSRAM has introduced many new and
innovative lamps to the South African market throughout the years, including
compact fluorescents, low voltage halogen, metal halide lamps and Halogen
energy saving lamps. Over the next few years OSRAM expects the strongest
growth in innovative products.
